Sustainability Built into How We Operate

Brooks’ sustainability efforts focus on operating safely, ethically, and with a commitment to environmental responsibility across our global footprint. We work to minimize our impact while enabling more efficient manufacturing for the industries we serve. Through our Quality Management System, Global Environmental, Health & Safety Policy, adherence to ISO standards, and strict regulatory compliance, we drive continuous improvement in resource efficiency, waste reduction, and responsible operations.

Net Zero Through Practical, Measurable Action

We’re committed to meaningful, measurable progress toward net-zero emissions by 2050. Our work focuses on reducing energy use, strengthening supply chain sustainability, and improving emissions tracking across our global operations.

Energy Efficiency and Operation Improvements

We are actively implementing initiatives to reduce energy consumption and enhance operational efficiency across our facilities. These efforts align with our broader objective of systematically decreasing our overall emissions footprint.

For calendar year 2025, Brooks purchased Energy Attribute Certificates for 100% of electricity consumption globally.

Leveraging on-site solar power at our Australia location.

Implemented an advanced Building Management System across our two largest North American sites, incorporating variable frequency drives (VFDs) with enhanced economizer controls, variable-speed compressors, upgraded vacuum pumps, and advanced scheduling capabilities to optimize energy performance and management.

Transitioning from fluorescent to LED lighting, with more than 95% of our North American office and production spaces now equipped with high-efficiency LED fixtures.

Additional electric vehicle charging stations were installed at our Chelmsford, MA and Fremont, CA sites.

Third-party energy audits were conducted at two of our main manufacturing sites to better identify opportunities for increased efficiency.

Sustainable and Resilient Supply Chain

We are working to build a carbon-neutral supply chain by partnering with suppliers to reduce emissions, enhance logistics efficiency, and promote responsible manufacturing practices throughout the value chain.

Transparent Emissions Reporting and Data Management

Brooks is committed to clear, consistent emissions reporting. We continue to strengthen our data collection, monitoring, and reduction strategies to ensure accurate tracking of our progress and to guide future improvements.

Climate Strategy Centered on Practical, Measurable Improvements

At Brooks Automation, our climate strategy is focused on how we operate every day — from managing energy use and waste at our facilities to continuously improving processes that reduce environmental impact across our global operations.

Waste Management

We are committed to minimizing waste through the continued expansion of reuse and recycling initiatives, with an increased emphasis on reclaiming and reusing foam packaging materials. The development of facility-level waste metrics enhances our ability to track performance, identify opportunities for greater efficiency, and drive continuous improvement across all Brooks locations.

Water Management

Water is not utilized within our core operations. Facility water use is limited to restrooms, kitchen areas, and general employee needs. We maintain high-efficiency fixtures and actively monitor consumption to support responsible water management and conservation.

Better Performance with Lower Greenhouse Emissions

We set clear targets to reduce greenhouse emissions and track progress across every major initiative. Energy-efficient computing systems, including low-power AI chips and advanced cooling designs, help lower overall demand.

These improvements shrink our footprint while strengthening long-term performance. Every upgrade pushes us toward cleaner, more responsible operations.
