| | | SVC TECHCON 2009 Brooks Automation will present at the SVC TechCon 2009 Santa Clara, California on May 11thBrooks Automation’s Granville-Phillips® Product Group, a world wide leader in HV and UHV Instrumentation, will present a “Comparison of Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer and Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer” technical paper as part of the 2009 TechCon Emerging Technologies Session (E-2 10:10am). Gerardo Brucker, Chief Scientist at Granville-Phillips, will introduce the use of electrostatic Ion Trap technology for low mass range mass spectrometry, and compare and contrast Ion Trap technology to the common Quadrupole-based mass spectrometer technology. Low mass range spectrometers are commonly used for residual gas analysis, leak detection and contamination monitoring. This novel Electrostatic Ion Trap technology can be used for the same applications, providing similar performance in terms of mass range, mass resolution, pressure range and partial pressure sensitivity. The Ion Trap technology differs by providing native ratiometric measurements that can be used directly for relative partial pressure measurement or easily scaled for absolute partial pressure measurement. In addition, this Ion Trap technology has demonstrated advantages in terms of ease-of-use, point-sample capabilities, transient detection, stability over the UHV to HV pressure range, simplicity in calibration and ultra-fast mass scan range speed. Dr. Brucker will be available at the Brooks Automation exhibit booth #205/207 from 3:00-5:00pm the day of his presentation for follow-up discussions and questions. About Gerardo Brucker
