MINI-ENVIRONMENTS

Synetics has over 10 years of experience in the design and manufacture of mini-environment* systems. From the start, we realized that, for best performance, the mini-environment for each application would have to be custom designed. We build mini-environments in a tremendous array of shapes, sizes, and materials.

Because the mini-environment is the exterior of the process equipment, our industrial designers work to be sure that each one coordinates with or defines a unique ‘look' for each of our OEM customers. We also work with our customers to incorporate corporate identity graphics and colors to ensure that each system is identifiable and consistent as a product of the OEM.

Our mini-environments consist of aluminum or steel frames enclosed in hinged or removable aluminum or plastic panels. Many of our mini-environments and FFUs feature powder coated finishes, applied in our own Class A powder coating facility. The fan filter units for our mini-environments are all customized to the application for optimal airflow. Synetics mini-environments are designed to conform to ISO Class 1or better performance standards.

We offer numerous options for these systems, including temperature and humidity control, chemical vapor filtration (CVF), lighting, ion bars, automatic pressure control systems (APCS), interlock systems, and custom packaging of sub-systems (e.g., gas and fluid distribution, power management, etc.).

*Mini-environments are sealed enclosures surrounding process equipment. They are slightly pressurized relative to their surroundings by the vertical, laminar inflow of highly filtered air. The mini-environment serves to isolate the process from the ambient environment, which usually conforms to a much lower cleanliness standard. Mini-environments also perform an important safety function, protecting operators from mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards which may exist in the process or front end wafer handling environment. Mini-environments are critical for many process applications where the wafer is exposed to atmospheric conditions.
