TRANSNET MCS 3.X


The purpose of this course is to teach how to operate and maintain Windows NT, Configure and Test TransNet MCS, Recover from errors, Run and configure PageMaster, Report Errors. Microsoft SQL (standard Query Language) scripting is included to Maintain All Databases. TCP/IP configuration and Clustering/Failover operations are included. The TransNet suite of Stocker AeroTrak and MCS communications are covered in great detail, to allow the student to formulate methods for effective trouble shooting in a system wide arena.

Prerequisites
The trainee should already be familiar with Windows (95/98 or NT Preferable) to include:

CIT and Integration Engineers must have satisfactorily completed the Brooks AeroTrak NT and Stocker NT courses (waivers are granted on a case-by-case basis, administered by the instructor) within 1 year of course convening date. The completion of the Brooks Bare Reticle Stocker/Combination Stocker satisfies the Brooks Stocker course Requirement.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the trainee should be able to perform the following:

  • Identify Stocker/AeroTrak/AeroLoader/MCS roles in Maintaining a FAB
  • State the functions of the MCS Graphic User Interface
  • Navigate the MCS Graphic User Interface
  • Complete the Competency checklist Items under MCS operations
  • Describe Move Priority Algorithms
  • Describe Alternate Destination Algorithms
  • Describe Stocker Overflow Control
  • Describe the possible MCS Job States
  • Describe how MCS performs its Route Determination
  • Solve Problems related to Route Determination
  • Perform Backup of General S/W Archives
  • Perform Application and Configuration Backups
  • Back up S/W for the MCS Controller
  • Back up S/W for AeroTrak Controller
  • Describe the functions of the PRIA logs
  • Perform the PRIA incident reporting procedure
  • Install PageMaster
  • Configure PageMaster to monitor events and page a technician
  • Describe RAID and the reasons it was created
  • Describe the three RAID levels that are configurable in Windows NT
  • Explain why RAID would be used in a Fab
  • Explain the raid 5/3 configuration
  • Recover from a drive failure on a clustered system
  • Failover AeroTrak and MCS Controllers and return to normal
  • Startup and Shutdown the Cluster

Additionally, Brooks CIT/CSE and Integration Engineers will be able to:

  • Manipulate Databases Used by The MCS (Using Microsoft SQL Scripting)
  • Add Equipment (Real and Simulated) to the Brooks AMHS domain
  • Explain and Perform the installation and testing of all failovers
