Press Release: Brooks Introduces SampleStore III AC Automated Storage System with Acoustic Tube Technology

CHELMSFORD, MASSACHUSETTS, U.S.A., (January 25, 2016) - Brooks Automation, a global provider of automated sample storage systems for compound management and biorepositories, has introduced its SampleStore™ III AC Automated Storage System — the first sample storage solution to incorporate acoustic tube technology that provides higher throughput and storage density.

The acoustic tube technology, made available through a partnership with Labcyte, Inc., substantially increases throughput within the sample management workflow. The tubes can be picked, re-arrayed and delivered as complete orders inside the automated store versus traditional plate-based systems that require extensive post-storage processing.

"The SampleStore III AC system combines an entirely new automated storage capability with transformational dispensing technology to create a new, higher-efficiency workflow," said Dusty Tenney, president of Brooks Life Science Systems. "This workflow will process nanoliter sample volumes that will dramatically extend compound library life and accelerate discovery capabilities."

The SampleStore III AC system is the centerpiece of a Brooks compound management workflow that will include acoustic tube consumables, instrumentation (including cappers and decappers) and scheduling software. The solution will enable 100% hit rate 'plate' order output and can significantly reduce time and operating costs for molecular drug development and discovery.

AstraZeneca to Be First Workflow Adopter
AstraZeneca will be the SampleStore III AC’s first adopter when it incorporates the system in the drug development workflow of its new MRC UK Centre for Lead Discovery to be built in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Brooks is now accepting orders for the SampleStore III AC system. Learn more about SampleStore III AC or contact us.
